TEACHING CREDENTIALS: Nancy Wechter is a senior teacher of the Alexander Technique and has been actively giving lessons in the technique for the past 26 years. A longtime member of the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT), she was first certified at The American Center for the Alexander Technique (ACAT) under Judith Liebowitz in 1979 and received a second certification from the The Society for the Alexander Technique (STAT) in London after studying intensively with Patrick MacDonald, Thomas Lemens and Rivka Cohen (with whom she continues to study). Nancy has taught in several teacher training programs and conducted many workshops with performers, laypeople and advanced care givers including Osteopathic physicians, chiropractors, and massage therapists. She is currently a senior member of the faculty of the teacher training program at the Manhattan Center for the Alexander Technique. She has a background in the arts including dance, choreography and performance. A longtime student of Iyengar Yoga, Nancy has studied Body Mind Centering with Bonnie Cohen, as well as Pilates and Gyrotonics. She maintains an active private practice in the NYC area as well as in the Catskill region of upstate New York. Her students come from a wide range of backgrounds and include dancers, actors, athletes, musicians, office workers, Pilates teachers, people with stress related problems referred by other health professionals and health professionals themselves.
